Does this camera have good manual focus? like with a focus ring along the edge of the lense?

CasualLuxuries March 10, 2010 at 6:51 am

Thank you :)

Mainly for video, but for the 200 dollars more that Maxson is talking about for the FS11, you may as well get yourself a steadycam and avoid altogether the jerkiness of hand-held shooting. :)

Canon Vixia HF S10 does not have good image stabilization. I own it and only problem that this camera has is stabilization. Sony has much better one. HF S11 has improved it but people say Sony still does it far better. Sony HDR-XR520V even has better low light performance but Canon has m ore manual options and 30p and 24p. So, for tourist Sony is better, for advanced shooter and film maker Canon is better.

sony hvr hd 1000u is better but thats because its PROFESSIONAL not AMATEUR

@CasualLuxuries
correct

CasualLuxuries March 10, 2010 at 11:26 am

But if you put the camcord on a tripod, it shouldn’t be the problem right?

MaxsonFilms March 10, 2010 at 11:40 am

@CasualLuxuries
image stabilization is making the videos you record less shaky. both the s10 and the s11 have great image stabilization, but the s11′s is a little bit better. the s10 definitely has good stabilization and i think its not worth the extra money for the s11.

CasualLuxuries March 10, 2010 at 11:54 am

Thank you for sharing :) But what is an image stabilization? Is that better for still image or for video recording?
Thank you

MaxsonFilms March 10, 2010 at 12:27 pm

@CasualLuxuries
i just got the s10 yesterday. the s10 is much better for the price. the s11 has a little bit better image stabilization, but its like 200 dollars more. over all, the s10 is a much smarter buy.

FOGoticus March 10, 2010 at 12:54 pm

s11

CasualLuxuries March 10, 2010 at 1:23 pm

Thanks, I am going to get the s10 then, I only need one to make youtube videos. I am sure I am not going to use all of its memory for one video lol.

cheergirl99999994 March 10, 2010 at 1:54 pm

s11 just have 64gb internal memory, the s10 has 32gb.

CasualLuxuries March 10, 2010 at 2:51 pm

Which one is better s10 or s11? I can’t decided. Help me please.
Thanks

this is my favorite video. I bought the same camcorder.. but these photos are amazingly beautiful.

bugilt March 10, 2010 at 2:56 pm

Most of my recent videos are shot with this same camera. Check out my DOF test for the HF s10

bugilt March 10, 2010 at 2:57 pm

It also has a joystick you can use for the focus.

mmstudios95 March 10, 2010 at 3:29 pm

elseachay06 March 10, 2010 at 4:16 pm

both video and audio quality with this camcorder is AMAZING i was not expecting it to be this good, and on YOUTUBE where they usually make vids look worse than they actually are. this camcorder is a definite possibility for me, simply awesome :) THANK YOU
