Got my advanced UK amateur radio licence, need opinions on good radios covering the microwave bands?

I’ve only got about £1500 to spend and second hand could be an option. I want something that covers all of the bands, including as many of the microwave ones as possible. I know I may be limited to only the first few microwave bands.

More than 100 watts would be nice too.

Is it still possible to listen to French radio stations (ex: RFI) on Short Wave radios, not over the internet?

It use to be that one could listen to French radio Stations like Radio France Int., Radio France Culture, Musique etc…on a World band short wave radio. One could listen live all day long. I live in New Jersey and don’t know if these International Radio Stations are still sending a short wave signal .
